Neil Agnihotri D.M.D., M.D., F.A.C.S., has two passions – a life long love of learning and his family.
Having completed 14 years of school / training as well as hundreds of hours of continuing medical education, it all started at the NJIT where he completed his B.Sc. in engineering.
Dr. Agnihotri first completed his bachelors in engineering then then attended New Jersey Dental School, where his interest in oral & maxillofacial surgery began. He matched into the UMDNJ 6-year integrated surgical residency, through which he obtained his doctorate of medicine and internship in general surgery.
During residency, he was given the unique opportunity of participating in medical missions including trips to Ghana and Bangladesh with SmileTrain. The trips involved treating both children and adults with cleft lips and palates. These trips gave him special appreciation for patients with aesthetic, functional and social issues. He has continued his dedication to medical care around the world with ongoing mission trips, most recently to Angouman, Haiti.
After completing his residency, he went on to complete a clinical fellowship in craniomaxillofacial surgery at the Posnick Center for Facial Plastic Surgery in Chevy Chase, Maryland with clinical privileges at Georgetown University Hospital. Dr. Agnihotri was able to treat many patients with congenital deformities resulting from syndromes or congenital malformations to restore facial balance and enhance aesthetics. He continues to have an academic presence, with an academic appointment at Virginia Commonwealth University.
Dr. Agnihotri is a board certified oral & maxillofacial surgeon, and is a fellow of two prestigious surgical societies, the American College of Surgeons and the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery.
Maxillofacial and aesthetic jaw reconstructive surgery as well as cosmetic facial surgery are particular passions of his. Dr. Agnihotri utilizes 21st century technology to plan your surgery to get the best possible outcome.
This involves Virtual Surgical Planning using CT scans and custom cutting guides developed by specialized software. Often, patients are back to work within two weeks. To learn more about the process, click here.
Dr. Agnihotri is active in attending and speaking to local, regional and national meeting discussing approaches and latest techniques in orthognathic and cosmetic facial surgery . Continuing education lectures are critical in order to stay up to date and on the cutting-edge of full-scope maxillofacial & cosmetic facial surgery. (CV)
He has been consistently named one of Richmond’s top maxillofacial surgeons in Richmond Magazine (2016, 2017).
He also has been voted Maxillofacial Surgeon With Best Bedside Manner in Our Health Magazine.
Dr. Agnihotri is an executive council member of the Virginia Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons. He serves on the Cosmetic Surgery Foundation, a group dedicated to promoting research and clinical training fellowships in cosmetic surgery.
Dr. Agnihotri is active in the community, coordinating care and providing free oral health screenings for people in the community and a number of outreach programs.
Dr. Agnihotri and his team are always excited to have visiting students eager to learn about full-scope maxillofacial & cosmetic facial surgery. We have hosted a number of high school, college and dental students who have shadowed and spent time learning about full-scope oral & maxillofacial surgery in our office. We are excited to offer a summer internship for interested students.
Dr. Agnihotri’s personal interests include running and obstacle course races. He has a particular interest in Active RVA and has participated in multiple races including local triathlons, the Richmond Half and Full Marathons. He is always eager to have everyone in the office participate in local events as well.
He also enjoys spending time with his wife and their ever-growing family.
