Dr. Neil Agnihotri was born in India and raised in New Jersey. He completed his undergraduate training at New Jersey Institute of Technology where he obtained his B.Sc. in Engineering in 2000.
He then attended New Jersey Dental School, University of Dentistry & Medicine of New Jersey, where his interest in oral & maxillofacial surgery began. He matched into the UMDNJ 6-year integrated surgical residency, through which he obtained his doctorate of medicine and internship in general surgery.
During residency, he was given the unique opportunity of participating in medical missions including trips to Ghana and Bangladesh with SmileTrain. The trips involved treating both children and adults with cleft lip and cleft palate. These trips gave him special appreciation for patients with aesthetic, functional and social issues.
After completing his residency, he was given the special privilege of working under Dr Jeffrey Posnick as a craniomaxillofacial surgical fellow at the Posnick Center for Facial Plastic Surgery in Chevy Chase, Maryland with clinical privileges at Georgetown University Hospital. Dr Posnick is a world-renowned authority in craniofacial and maxillofacial surgery. During his time with Dr Posnick, Dr Agnihotri was able to treat many patients with congenital deformities resulting from syndromes or malformations. Additionally, he was able to appreciate Dr Posnick's philosophy of the face and his unique approach to the facial aesthetic evaluation.
Dr Agnihotri's surgical interests include full-scope oral & maxillofacial surgery with focus on orthognathic surgery for congenital deformities, sleep apnea, cleft care and facial aesthetic surgery.
Dr Agnihotri is married to Dr Rupal Shah, a general dentist who also practices in Richmond. They have one son who is 2 years old and the joy of their life.
His personal interests include sports, reading and spending time with his family.
