Meet Dr. Hershkin

Oral Surgeon Dr. Hershkin, Richmond VAAdam was born and raised in New York, where he graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in Bellmore in 1992. He attended the University of Wisconsin in Madison, and earned his undergraduate degree in 1996. It was there that Adam first became involved in health care and teaching, performing medical research and teaching classes in the department of anatomy. Before graduating, Adam lived in London and collaborated on a research project in the department of anatomy at King’s College.

Adam then went on to dental school in Philadelphia at Temple University, where he found himself drawn to oral and maxillofacial surgery and was elected secretary of the oral and maxillofacial surgery honor society and earned his DMD degree in 2001. After completing an internship in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the Medical College of Virginia, Adam returned to New York as a resident in oral and maxillofacial surgery at St. Luke’s - Roosevelt Hospital in Manhattan, where he served as Chief Resident.

Adam is a co-author of a chapter on oral and maxillofacial regional anesthesia in a new textbook entitled, “Peripheral Nerve Blocks - Principles and Practice.” He also authored and is awaiting publication of two case reports.

Adam practices full scope oral and maxillofacial surgery, with particular interest in dentoalveolar surgery, dental implants, trauma and reconstructive surgery, treatment of OSA (obstructive sleep apnea).

Dr. Hershkin has a special interest in TMJ treatment and has significant experience in all aspects of TMD from conservative management to surgical reconstruction.

In his spare time, Adam is an avid sports fan, amateur photographer and a gourmet chef. He enjoys playing sports, fishing, travel and music.
